HI here is some information that I found very usful:

MANAGMENT OF PREGNANT LADY EXPOSED TO CASE OF CHICKEN POX:

1-Measure the antibody titer as most of the women developed chicken pox during chilhood and it gives life long immunity.
2- if it was negative so you have to give the mother VZIG within 96 hours as it have been found to be effective.
3- If the women come with active infection so the best indicator of fetal infection is cordocentesis to look for the IGM antibody as it is fetal in origin and can not cross the placenta (unlike IGg).
4- if a baby borne to a mother who developed chicken pox within 5 days pre or post delivery so he is at high risk as he had been exposed to high level of maternal viremia and before the development of the protective maternal antibodies so you have to give the neonate VZIG.
