well.........the version i read in RxPG PGI book and other places was
in pt with int obstruction which of the following inv would be required

..there even for PGI i would go for only x ray............as the answer in the book suggests

scout fimls standing/lying are indicated--bailey
barium contraindicated
upper gi---acute pt---relief of Obs is more imp
usg...with distended bowels????
ct abdo-will nt give u diagnosis of Obs per se:

haan...........if they ask inv to be done in a case without specifying anything else---ct and upper endo could be added to help know the etiology

Dear members,

Wish to add that the X-Ray characteristics are :

1. More than 3 fluid levels on plain X-Ray = indication for operation

2. single large loop filled with gas with apex in left iliac fossa and base in right iliac fossa = Sigmoid volvulus

3. double bubble sign = duodenal atresia

4. sudden cutoff of gas shadow

etc icon_biggrin.gif will keep u posted on further signs.

Keep watching icon_lol.gif
