Dear Friends this year I heard everyone saying that the seen is bad regarding IV's . let we share why is this so this year?

This year competition is really tough and people with good scores usce etc are getting less calls.
why so?

Your query might have to do something with the following reasons:

(1) The greater number of applicants with better credentials like high scores.USCE, US LORs,etc. So, a greater than usual choice might be there for the PROGRAMS,which can make them more selective.

(2)A greater than usual proportion of AMG's competing for the said speciality which simply is not good for the IMG's.

(3) There may be a greater number of IMG's applying this year in the said speciality than the usual with the no. of residency positions /slots remaining the same .This can lead to the impression about IMG's not getting ENOUGH interviews.

Well phycician I am impressed with your explaination
Let me draw your kind attention what might be the reason.
1.Everybody feels IM is less competitive and use it as back up even they are actually interested in othe branches like surgery,radiology, etc
2. After PLAB etc problem lot of people coming from britian here in united states with MRCP somehow it will count a real good degree
3.visa now easy to get now i mean i didnt found anyone this year who was rejected.
4.well I think condition is worsening and many people have to return back with match I reckon
That what I think, any comments will be appreciated

It was delighting to read your reasons as well.

Moreover ,the reasons put forward by both us have much in common.

I talked about better credentials and you talked about MRCP which no doubt is a better credential.

I talked about AMG's applying to the said speciality in greater no.s,you talked about the fact that Internal Medicine being applied as a Back-up by many. May be AMG's are doing so in large numbers.

I talked about more IMG's applying this year than the usual. You talked about many visas being given this year. Issuance of visas and Residency application do have a direct relation -ship.

But, about your statement that noboby's visa was rejected this year,Iwant to say that i know two guys from my place whose visa was rejected. And one or two guys also got a Single entry visa only.

1.well regarding visa thankyou for letting me know that but still visa issues are less
2.You said AMG's well i dont think that is the issue they prefer other branches
3.well but nothing can stop one unless he want to stop.
