here in uk system uk graduate get an year off their medical school in which some of them either do a bsc or phd
during my attachment 3 medical students were there
one of them bsc in microbio, one in orthopaedics and one is hitopathology
its just we who dont do bsc during medica training as we are oftenly stuck with our mbbs degree
as fp is meant for uk graduate so they expect them to do some bsc
