Can blood be transfused to a severely bleeding MVA victim who is in possession of a jehowah's card which is neither signed nor witnessed.?

if it is signed, and dated then one sd not transfuse...if not signed AND dated, then see if any relative is our there and discuss with him/her. For e.g, if patient;s daughter is there and refuses and if u think thats what patient wd ve wanted, then refuse it...
If no relative at site and you have to take a decision on basis of unsigned and undated and unwitnessed card, then this is tricky. There have been few cases which are debatable but people believe that you should take action to save patient;s life as you are not sure about patient's real wishes. Make sure in this type of questions that patient is incompetent. One physician was fined for transfusing a pt with jehonah card signed but not witnessed and not dated. but there was lot of debate even on this and many people were against this judgement.

i also asked some of residents here....
the unanimous opinion is that they will transfuse the patient....
also one school of thought is that jehovah's dont find it sinful act if they are transfused when they did not know about it, for e.g when they were unconscious...though they avoid it by carrying a card....
whenever there is doubt, one should also go towards saving life...
btw....in any case if u get sued, it will be much more if u r found guilty of not saving the patient rather than harming religious belief at a point which is debatable....
