Hello everyone! It took me a whole lot courage to post my problem. Hope i wont be mocked. I am lost at the moment. I have waisted 3 yrs doing my first year and only managed to clear Biochemistry exam. It is not that i dont have the aptitude for medicine. Wat has been lacking is my attitude, everytime i failed for exam i resolved to go after it again n again but always got diverted. This time i did'nt appear for my university exams too. I have developed a depression. I am back home after missing my exams and my parents are also worried about my future. I do want to do M.B.B.S. But each time the failures have given me a set back n wen i think about opening the Anatomy n Physiology bukz again i feel sick. There was no hostel in the college earliar n it has only just opened. I used to live alone in a flat nearby college. And i also found it tuff to mixup with people because of language problem. I am frm u.p. N i mumbai has a very fast lifestyle. I am on a verge of breakdown due to fallout with my m8 too she is in 3rd year now. I cant face my batchmates anymore. Please help me. I dont know what to do. I am good at having conversations and explaning my points. And if not mbbs i cud do with marketing field. But i dont wna regret and lament over not being able to do wat i cud have done if i was a bit more focussed. I had always aspired to be a doctor and folow my dads footsteps he is a doctor too (M.d. Medicine). But over the days the failures have taken there toll and i am lost. Any seniors who could give me a valuable tip as to how to go about dis mess that i am responsible 4.. I'd be greatful and indebted. I dont know if am posting this topic in right place. Sorry if its wrongly posted. I am new to this site.

well ! dear friend . not all are successful in their first try , try try till u succeed , me too far from home , absolutely different language ( Russian ) , almost 99.99% Indians here do medicine in English an im the only one from India doing in Russian that too in Russian group with only Russian's , mostly teachers don't like people who don't know the langusge sitting in their group , i should have gone to foreigners group i haven't , i even planning to get myself into a tough life by advancing my group which may be like hell . still i wish to ....

when ever my prof's comment me on my poor Russian lang i always think ill master the same soon . this is life . people made aircraft and flew on the same without an idea weather or not they will be successful but confidence made them . even this computer and mass media ... who knows how many troubles he would have face to make the impossible . im writing from Moscow and u r reading from India ... this too was impossible ages ago ... but now its possible

so grow ur self confidence , forget ur group mates . when ull make wonders they'll applaud u .. its u who have to concentrate in studies and live .... friends are always there for u .

forget ur past , start to love ur profession , admire ur dad , see his status in the society , start to like ur books imagine that u need them the most , and finally develop ur self confidence .... reading autobiographies about great personalities will surely assist u for the same .

from what i can gather you do have the will to do medicine but somehow something inside you is stopping you from doing it.
you say that you do have the aptitude to do medicine and i gather what you mean by that is that you like the subjects of medicine but are unable to retain what you read.
youve wasted 3 years of your life on something that you think u would have done well in.
maybe its time you saw the light of day and moved on. medicine is not the end of the world nor is it the pinnacle of it.
its just another job that people do.
its not the only thing that people can be great at.
i know you wanna follow in your dads footsteps but maybe ur not meant for medicine.
i believe you need to move on
instead of being the laughing stock of the entire college... i think you should forget thinking about what is brave and go the smarter way
maybe you should get into marketing
from what you have written and the way you have expressed yourself i think you would make a great career in journalism or marketing like you said
maybe you should move on ... look out for alternatives... take a break
tell you what you will not regret not doing medicine if you do well in another thing
and your parents will undoubtedly be proud of you
so dont worry get on with your life
you will do well
just bring about a lil change

thnx pearly for ur valuable words. i took my time and thought about things and i am ever more convinced to become a doctor now!!! i just took my time to realise how nobel and great a doctors profession is. and as u sed i am surely going to love my books now and nufin else. thanx thanx and thanx again mate!!!!!! i have my exams on may 27th and i will make sure that i crack through the examz. and post my victory here. take care.

thanks 4 the help earliar. I have started studying. And i am gonna join hostel soon to get the right enviornment so that i can continue studying with same zeal.
Ok, now friends i am having a problem, i have started with Anatomy , lower limb, i wanna kn0w wat should be the procedure of reading? I know the question sounds bit weird, but this is my last chance n i wanna make sure i clear all papers! I wanna know, that wat frame of mind shud i read chapterz wit? Mugging up during the first reading? Muggingup everything? Dr suresh in his thread sed observe dissections and read. But i m a repeater n i karnt arange 4 dissections in my anat deptt. So how should i go abt ANAT reading? Any tipz? Pls post.... Thanks a ton in advance.

dear friend :

im so happy that u have landed in a hostel which is again a best move since hostel environment will sure add to your confidence , always try to be in the medical environment and let the medical world be close to you .

never mug up anything friend . mugging up only provides or supports exam works and nothing else , college status or high marks are not the only thing achieved in life we medico's must first focus on the future . this field / profession every single thing is something happens in real and deals with life so focus on real study . first study the English form of what ever you learn in Anatomy and then its Latin form then slowly focus on its location and its size , shape function sure you'd need info of why this is present here and why not in another place . mainly its function because they might be sometimes similar to many other or not but some functions may be really interesting and be vital due to its presence there , make points how they get their feed from the nervous connections and the rest before you move into another topic / part first make sure you finished em all in detail and full ...try to have as much as pic's or videos or you may even visit the Anatomy lab to see the real / the original , this sure would add to your confidence and surely divert your mind into Anatomy if in case you think about something else which is human nature .

may be if you feel bored you may watch some good programmes like dr.house but may not much .

sorry buddy had iv not provided you the exact info of what you might need . im not a good adviser or an excellent student in still on the shore so i wish if some seniors drop in here . im sure they will .

you got a similar problem "wanted" which m facing....but your problem...
is less intense(sorry if i hurt u)
.....you know m a schizophrenic...& i got it during my 2nd year & what the worst ....it all happens during my final exam....but in that condition too
due to my best preparations i passed that exam....only i got supplementry in Microbiology ...i could understand your problem well...& m saying this from my heart..........m not telling you bookish things...but the bitter truth.......after you got such kind of problem...your personality
changes a lot....& you take blame of everything on yourself...you curse yourself....you became a habitual thinker who tries to point out negative things in every situations...& this vicious cycle continues.....you need a good friend buddy ...so do i.....would you be my friend?????
now i had completed m.b.b.s & prepairing for p.g....you got to believe in yourself.....& please do stop compairing with your peers or anybody......
every person in this world is unique...has its own quality.....say 4 example...if you start comparing with others then you always find yourself in trouble......i passed my final proff. in 2 years......i just want to
give my parents happiness & optimism....& thats the driving force for me...go on dude.....don't you want to see your parents happy????
you could scrap me anytime on rx.....i will try my best ......tc
