How to Create a Virtual CD Drive

Computer users(especially PC gamers) are some times faced with a situation in which they need to keep a CD in the drive for long hours to run a program(eg:PC games) Running a CD in the drive for long hours every day is not recommended as it will increase the wear n tear of the CD ROM.

In such situations you can use some softwares to create a virtual CD drive in your pc, using which you can load a virtual image of the CD without actually inserting it into the CD drive.

A good FREE software is available for this purpose.
Its called "Virtual Clone Drive"

Using Virtual Clone Drive

Install the Virtual Clone Drive

Run the program, You will be asked about the no of needed virtual drives. Select the number as per ur need.

Now go to "My Computer", Right Click on the Virtual Clone Drive icon and select "Mount"

Direct the "Open" window to the .iso CD image in your PC.

If you haven't created an iso image of the CD, you can create one.

Download this FREEware "Folder2Iso"
Folder2Iso just creates an iso from any kind of folder (with the subfolders)

Daemon tools lite(DTL) is the one I use. It creates any no of virtual drives for the purpose.
You create the cd image as above or use cd images already created.
Using the DTL mount the image and start using the program! It works for a wide variety of programs.
