hi..
i completed my internship this july...i'm married & now living in california.we are not interested staying back in this country...sop i'm planning for appg"09.here,i can get only intl books& online stuff...presently i bought cmdt'08 edition...but confused where to start & how to start preparing..gray's Anatomy ,harrison,cmdt are available in the nearby library...i hv robbin's,harper .. i'm unable to plan out !!can someone please help me out where to start& help me plan the schedule...i would be thankful to..

As you are plan is for appg 2009......you have plenty of time.

you need to read few books but read them repeatedly and thoroughly

1. Harrison or cmdt
2. Bailey and Love
3. shaw /dutta
4. Ganong
5. Robbins
6. Maheshwari ( orthopaedics )
7. Dhingra ( ENT )
8. Tripati ( Biochemistry ) or Lippincotts
you don't have to read grays for Anatomy .

Questions bank :

1. Pulse ( plenty of mcqs with authentic references)
2. All India q book by Mudit khanna
3. AIIMS q book by Ashish/amit/tripati
4. Additional book by Omkarnath for APPG( previous mcqs of Andhra )
5. There are separate books available for MEDICINE,SURGERY by the same authors of AIIMS q book
6. Ophthalmology ( good book by Dr Saumya shukla)

How to read :

Best reading would be " Read topics in the text book ,and do mcqs in the question bank after reading the topic"

Make the notes of confusing , interesting, forgetting topics and revise them repeatedly

Practice tests :

" Most important" ........ several institutes offer weekly practice tests here in hyderabad or any part of india.........you can write such exams weekly

Important exams one should be writing :

1. AIIMS
2. PGI
3. AIPGE ( you cannot write if u have done ur MBBS from Andhra )
4. UPSC
5. CMC (vellore)
6. MANIPAL - ( private)
7. NIMS ( only for Andhra students)
8. NIMHANS
9. COMED ( karnataka -private seats)
