Hi Ankonaa, Equation of availability of residency varies wrt each branch barring few preliminary factors, Few branches cud be easy to get through, while few show quite a cut-throat competition.Pathology isnt as wanted as IM but it i seither as Clinical Path, or Anatomical Path and one really needs very impressive credentials to get hooked at a good place. FM is relatively easier if we compare no of seats.I know one of my Senior Pathologist who landed up in FM regardless of here MD in Path.

FM there is like General Physician /Family Doctor in India. I am unable to perceive similarity between PSM and FM .PSM is more restricted to Institutes and moreso it gets converged to teach Medical students only and nothing beyond, no real preventive projects or so...But after FM you work in primary centers , private clinics as family doctor /General physician and are the first connecting step between patient and specialists.
