Main objectives of this station are to determine whether there are any absolute or relative contraindicatios of OCPs. and if faced with unplanned pregnancy, discuss the alternatives for management.
Objectives:
Elicit Obstetrics and Gynecological History and determine the risk factors for hormonal use.
Exclude the presence of pregnancy if appropriate
Order appropriate cultures, pap smear, and pregnancy test if indicated.
Conduct an effective plan of management of patient requesting contraception.
Outline methods of contraception, risk of failure and complications and drug reactions.
Counsel patient about side effects, adjustments if pill is missed or need to add barrier techniques.
Counsle patient on benefit of Contraception in conjuction with hormonal contraception in reducing HIV transmission and STDs
Present Contraceptives while respecting patients own moral ethics and religious beliefs.
