What is the Speed of your Internet Connection?
Please Note: i.e. The Speed promised by your Internet Service Provider(ISP).
The Download speed varies from the Speed promised by the ISP.
If you are in doubt you can go to speedtest [dot] net and check your internet download speed.
Just as a general info i am adding the usual internet speeds of Various Continents.
North America - 4.5 MBPS (4.5 MB Per Second)
Europe - 3.8 MBPS
Australia
- 3.7 MBPS
Asia - 2 MBPS
South America - 0.844 MBPS (844 KB per second)
Africa - 0.654 MBPS

My usual download speed is around 100 - 300 KB per second.

You must be seeing something like this,
Right?
Its actually the Maximum Speed your computer can handle.
i.e The max speed of your Ethernet Card in your PC.
(In a PC Ethernet card is located at the place where you plug in the External Broadband Modem)
The easiest way by which you can check the Speed Promised by the ISP(Internet Service Provider) is to check the Monthly Bill.
If you don't have the bill with you, you can go to
and check your download speed.
The average download speed is usually 12 - 25% of the Maximum Promised Speed.

Thats the Download Speed of your Internet. The Maximum Promised speed must be ~2MBps.
500KBps download speed is pretty fast, It means you can open web pages fully in less than a second.
(Most of the Web pages are usually <500KB in size)

Hi borntowin, according your SS. your net speed is about 128kbps NOT 500kbps... i just realised that graph is always showing 500kbps irrespective of u r speed...
your pc downloaded about 3MB file in roughly about 30 sec.... that means per second i think it is 128 kbps...
pls correct me if i am wrong...
or try this site

I would like to post some basic information which I always forget to remember
Meanings:
BIT: abbreviated to a small b appears in "Kbps".
BYTE: abbreviated to a capital B in "KBps".
8 bits are in a single byte.
Kbps: kilobits per second, or 1000 bits per second.
Mbps: Megabits per second or 1,000,000 bits per second.
"KBps" speed is higher than "Kbps"
