Quick Scroll surgery for females 02.18.08 (5 months ago) #1

i know its oft repeated but really can a female surgeon think about having a successful private practice.i am from a family of doctors and all the members in my family are insistent as a female surgeon patient acceptability is a minimum.most of the female surgeons i see are doing lecturers posts in government institutes .i cant see a single female surgeon doing well in private practice.is their really no hope for females in private .even in our institute their were 5 female surgery lecturers working their since the past 5-6 years.my wife is insistent on surgery and i dont know what to say.plus now you have to do MCh .HELP

but one thing...when i was attending surgery opd during internship,1/4 pt r female ,during their checkup, they always seemed 2 b embaressed by thr croud of male residents..n often were pleased that at least a female doctor is attending them now since the q is regardin female surgeons,i think gols optin for surgery when-- 1.they r not gettin gyn at their ranks (my seniors at surgery often quote of those kinds..those ultimately practice as a Gynae )afterall they then have an ms degree!!!! 2.whn they r really interestd in d subject!!! (really few)!!

well i disagree here . in my internship i always felt that all patients went to the male doctors , females are assumed to b juniormost or nurses n they address u as sisters . ya they r comfortable if theres a female ard but they preferred examined by a male doc . though biased as this is . it is d bitter truth

i basically think that if one is truly devoted to d branch he has taken.....as well as he/she has developd good skills, can not lag .n regarding ihat calling doctors as sisters........that is true..but i v seen such incidents in Gynae too..people calling female Gynae residents as sister.......they only rem d consultant.......n this typo u may get in paeds too.........both considered as branches for females!!!!!!!!!!
