Quick Scroll 5 Things you Should Keep In Mind while Posting 01.28.08 (3 months ago) #1

Hi Friends,

There are certain etiquettes to be followed in forum.
These points if followed will make your post more pleasant to the eyes and more readable.

First and the foremost is, Be nice to all.

Before going into the details, i would like to make it clear that these are not compulsory rules.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Avoid using Caps Only to post

MAKING A POST FULL OF CAPITAL LETTERS IS EQUIVALENT TO YELLING OR SHOUTING AND IS SEEN AS A RUDE PRACTICE IN MOST OF THE INTERNET FORUMS. IT ALSO PUTS MORE STRAIN TO THE EYE THUS RESULTING IN PEOPLE NOT READING YOUR POST. OUR BRAIN NEED MORE TIME COMPREHEND A CAPS ONLY POST. USE CAPS ONLY IN HEADINGS OR IMPORTANT POINTS. I WILL TYPE THE SAME PARAGRAPH IN THE APPROPRIATE WAY TO GIVE YOU A CLEARER IDEA.

-Same paragraph in the proper way-

Making a post full of capital letters is equivalent to yelling or shouting and is see as a rude practice in most of the internet forums.
Its also puts more strain to the eye thus resulting in people not reading your post.
Our brains need more time to comprehend a Caps Only post. Use caps only in headings or important points.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

2. Never use signatures which are very big in size

I can't specifically mention what is the size limit of the signatures,
but its better not to use a signature which is bigger than the content of your post.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Never make personal posts using Big Fonts & Odd colours
Quote:
I am fine buddy. How are you? Have a great day. Went to a beach today and had loads of fun. The scenery was breath taking! icon_biggrin.gif

It looks odd and less friendly, isn't it?

--------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Never add too much text in a non study topic post

A Non Study topic post with loads of text(essay) is less interesting.
Always make sure your post in concise and upto the point.
If you are indeed making a big post,
please add some colours to the headings and add some pictures.
This really makes the thread more interesting.

------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Never Submit a Post without Previewing

Always your post before submitting it.
This is important because "Edit" function is disabled in many RxPG subforums.
So you won't be able to correct any mistakes after you press the button.

Avoid spelling mistakes - Use Mozilla Firefox

Don't make very obvious spelling mistakes in Thread Headings:

eg: (some real thread headings)
Want a Study Partener
Preparation Class By Proffessionals

First impression is the best impression.
So always take care not to make spelling mistakes at least in thread headings.
Such spelling mistakes are not expected from a doctor working in India or abroad.

Firefox Web Browser has an in-built Spell Checker.
Only RxPG members can see links here! Register or Sign In!

It will check the text you type in the Reply Box for spelling mistakes,
and will highlight them.
