hey pals,
which party would you like to be associated with... the Open Source community or the Closed Proprietary software community....
i believe, for the last few years proprietary software developers have been driving innovation... to cater to the ever-demanding consumers...
on the other hand, open source has lost out in the race to innovate... most of the open source products have been developed to provide FREE alternatives to the already existing proprietary softwares...
thankfully the picture has started changing nowadays with some great, unbeatable and totally new products coming out of the open source community...
what are your thoughts??

Open source!
Open source community has not yet lost the innovative capabilities.
Watch out for the upcoming Openoffice.org 3!
It will have a PDF editor too!!
Which means a single free suite can replace MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Adobe Acrobat Pro versions.

ok... that sounds good...
but i guess, the first innovation that the openoffice guys need to pull out is to let the program open faster... today it takes ages to open a document with openoffice.... this point itself doesnt make openoffice a worthy replacement over ms office...
anyways, lets hope the newer version developers take this into consideration...

I agree Microsoft Office opens in a second,
But Open office takes only 3-5 seconds to open.
After all we cant expect a free software to perform like a pro suite which costs 16,000 rupees.

there you are.... thats exactly what i tried to point out... this is the reason why open source softwares find it extremely hard to catch up with proprietary softwares... as i mentioned earlier, things are definitely changing for the better... linux is much user-friendly now... with loads of eye candy... hope all opensource software developers follow suit....
