Govt to recognise foreign PG degress in medicine: Ramadoss
Bangalore, March 15: The Centre would recognise foreign post-graduate degrees in medicine by English speaking countries, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Anbumani Ramadoss said here on Saturday.

"As a move to encourage Indian doctors who pursue further studies abroad to come back and practice here, we will recognise foreign post-graduate degrees in medicine by English speaking countries, starting with five (countries) to begin with," he said at the convocation of national board of examinations under the ministry of health and family welfare.

The five nations are UK, US, Canada , Australia and New Zealand , he said adding it would be followed by Singapore and European countries.

"Initially it will be a unilateral recognition. As the process evolves, it will become bilateral," Ramadoss said.

In view of increasing importance of emergency care, government would soon launch a national programme on emergency and trauma care. "However, we need more human resource for this", he said.

In about four to five months, national urban health mission would be rolled out in 429 cities and district headquarters, focusing on around 5.5 crore slum population in the cities.

Regretting that national board of examinations which had global recognition lacked national recognition, Ramadoss said, the ministry however recognised that DNB examination is unbiased and much more standardised than the MD or MS examination across the country and efforts would be made to solve the difficulties of parity faced by DNB candidates.

NOW THE POINT TO SEE IS ............. The Centre would recognise foreign post-graduate degrees in medicine by English speaking countries, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Anbumani Ramadoss said here on Saturday.WAT DOES 'IN MEDICINE" MEANS ?IS HE REFERRIN TO THE PG DEGREE IN GENERAL MEDINE ONLY OR HE MEANS PG DEGREE AS A WHOLE IN ANY SUBJECT ????

thats a good news, but you know still there are too many pg doctors from Russia ,ukraine ,romania e.t.c (non english speaking countries) who are still seeking their way to india but MCI system is too bias..
i dont say they should recognize foriegn pg straightway but they should atleast conduct a test ( as for FMGE ), to access the knowledge of the pg doctor and access if he is up to the mark or not , if he is ! there shouldnt be any thought about registering foriegn PG coz india need them!!!!

MCI system is not biased, they know that most of the countries in Europe, even Russia , have their PG courses in Russian.
So the recognition for English speaking countries' PG has come into effect.
Tell me, how much credence, as a patient, would you give to a doctor, who has done his PG in Russian or another language? dont you think communications will be affected, apart from other things?
Yes I believe, they should keep an exam for us as well.
