Hi everybody,
I heard that some doctors work in Medical Transcription companies.
What is the role of a doctor in a Medical Transcription Company?
Is doing such a job considered as low for a Doctor,if done temporarily till getting PG?
Is doing such a job considered as low for a Doctor if chosen permanently as a career?
What is the salary?

Quick Scroll info on medical transcription 04.24.08 (3 months ago) #2

Hello my cousin is working as a medical transcriptionist and the following information is based on what he told me.It is true for the place he works at but I am not sure it can generalised.
-it is true that some doctors do work as transcriptionists
-in the comapny he works for, there a few denists, working from home ,as transcriptionists .This is mainly to earn while studying for PG.amount that can be earned varies ,but I think that medical personnel can do it better than people from other fields,The average salary is about 10000-12000.
-young doctors, who got married and went abroad on dependent visa, have done this training and are earning from there, until they get a job there. The salary would be depsoited in rupees in India
-about respectability,I think most of those who work as transcriptionists,do so,from home,on temporary basis.
-I dont know if people are taking it as a permanent career(almost all personnel working there are on a temporary basis, including my cousin, until they get something better)
Hope this helps!!
