to anyone who didn't match in the first iteration or who won't match in the second iteration, once the match is done look to the positions left and call the universities and trust me many many people got their residency this way...
5 of my friends matched in the post match... don't loose hope.. and it really works.. 3 of them matched to the university of western ontario in london last year... and i know it works... contact all the program directors of medical universities in Canada
and send your application and your cv it will work..
many positions left from canadian students will be left and sometimes they don't even mention it so take some time and call them...
good luck to everyone and don't ever loose hope..

Post-Match Process
Updated April 1, 2008
INTRODUCTION
CaRMS will re-open the Applicant Web Station (AWS) after the Second Iteration of the 2008 R-1 match has concluded, providing unmatched applicants an opportunity to electronically apply to programs with unfilled positions. The new service is called the Post-Match Process.
The Post-Match Process will commence on April 16, 2008 and conclude no later than May 30, 2008. There will not be a period of application or a period of file review; it will be an open selection process where programs can review applications as they arrive and at their discretion. There will be no ranking or matching services provided. The applicants will have the ability to review the list of programs with vacancies and apply to available programs. The programs will receive and review incoming applications, and make any decisions under their own timeframe.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants interested in the Post-Match Process must have participated in the First and/or Second Iteration matches of CaRMS in 2008. No new applicants will be accepted.
FEES
Applicants will be charged a $50 (+ applicable taxes) flat fee and can apply to as many participating programs as they wish. Applicants must settle any outstanding fees owed to CaRMS before they are allowed to participate in the Post-Match Process. This may include a delinquent registration fee for First or Second Iteration.
DOCUMENTS
No additional documents can be added (scanned) to an applicants electronic file, nor can any examination scores be updated (creation of personal letters on AWS will be possible) after April 7, 2008. If a university requires/requests a document not currently in an applicants' CaRMS application, the applicant and university decide a course of action to have the document sent to the school.
Documents are assigned in the same way as they were in First and Second Iteration.
It takes 30 minutes for a program to receive a submitted application submitted via AWS.
PARTICIPATING UNIVERSITIES
The Post-Match Process is not being adopted by all universities. Listed below are the participating universities that may participate, if they have any vacancies for 2008:
Memorial
Dalhousie
Western
McMaster
Northern Ontario School of Medicine
Ottawa
Queen's
University of Saskatchewan
University of British Columbia
Applicants wishing to apply to programs at universities not participating in the CaRMS Post-Match Process will have to contact the program directly for application procedures. Please refer to the Program Descriptions for program information.
TIMETABLE
Opens - Wednesday, April 16, 2008 (13:00 hr ET)
Closes - Friday, May 30, 2008 (12:00 hr ET

People who were intereviewed in first iteration, only those applicants got positions in post match process last year, while other applicants were not lucky enough,is that true???
I think program directors don't bother to look into new files in post match!!!!
Please answer ,any one has some idea about it?

that is unbelievable for me dr. paula,I applied last year in post match without interview in frist iteration , programs asked me about it and unfortunately I wasn't .
I do not want to discourage you friends but ,I have been through it ,it really hurts .i mean it.
well, there is at least no harm in enquire about left positions.
GOOD LUCK

Hi Paula.
It is given in the carms site that we are not supposed to contact the program directors of participating universities.Do you think it would be ok if we still contact them directly or would it be taken in a negative way?
