Quick Scroll Social security number and H1b 04.01.08 (3 months ago) #1

hi people i have matched on H1b in washington DC. I am confused about the Social security number. Almost all the papers/forms sent to me by my program need me to fill up the SSN. Also getting temporary license in DC requires me to fill in the SSN.

I am in my home country and hold only B1B2 visa so there is no way i can get a SSN.

What makes it worse is that my program is not able to help me because this is the first time they have chosen an IMG and they have never worked on these issues before.

While they are trying to find answers to these questions too can some of u tell me the answers from your experiences in other H1b offering programs.

I think you may be able to leave the SSN blank at this stage... they'll assign you a temp SSN till u get ur permanent one...

you can apply for the SSN once you reach US .. it normally takes 4-6 weeks

but confirm from ur particular program
