dear pama,

why everybody advices is not the point what u want is important

dch is a very gud option provided to want to practise in smaller cities,in metros certainly md peads is preffered

another thing ms ophthal is very gud branch for ladies same as ms ENT which r terminal branches u will hv no emergrngies n a very happy family life moreover masters, u will easily get 40,000 to 50,000 once u knw ur subject well plus ur consultancy fees

next is this craze abt Dermatology but only if u do cosmetology which runs into lakhs for fellowships n then expensive set up for laser eqiupment

another upcoming n certainly a bright branch in md Anaesthesia ,most erwarding and fetching nowadays,no set up tensions no job tensions,Anaesthesia is required everywhere ,u command a gud percent of ot charges icon_wink.gif n silently increase ur bank balance icon_lol.gif icon_mad.gif

dear pama,

i cant say u did a mistake by listening to others, may be u shud have opted for dch,the thing is that people tell u to take masters only from job point of view in medical colleges etc.

if u had opted for dch then if u learn ur subject well that itself is important, many of layman dont knw difference between dch and md,for them ur treatment and ur dealing is important.

but one thing i can tell u is that if i were a girl and in ur place may be i wud ahve opted for ophthal only not other branches is becoz of the following reasons,

1.for a girl family shud come first, then job that is what i feel.

2.ur husband if he earns well it is more than enough if u earn around 50,000 without sweating much.

3.u shud have some time for urself also unless and until u want to earn a lot.

so in this case, let me tell u drawbacks of each branch and merits of m.s ophthal.

1.lets start with dch,its a diploma ok but if u want to exceed as a pediatrician,u have to slog a lot in life means u need to be dedicated,u may want to do DNB ,for that again two years of study, what will happen to ur children they may not get all the attention.

2.md Anaesthesia ,hectic job but gud pay, must have gud rappot with surgical faculty, roaming job,can join corporate hospitals if any possible for regular shifts, still all this works better for men than women.

3.md Dermatology ,cant comment on this really becoz i personally dont prefer it reasons-

infact one of the least preffered branches till recently, 1.md Dermatology alone does not get u anywhere, most of skin cases r dealt by general physicians.tell me one thing if tomorrow a scabies, tinea, dermatis case comes to u wont u treat it urself, will u refer it to skin specialist if u r a GP?
2.now even venereology is there with skin means u have to treat all std's like hiv,hepatites-b,syphillis etc.
3.to excell u have to do cosmetology 6 months to one year course, they cost aprox 15 lakhs, best if learned abroad.then set up will cost u cool 50 plus.think abt it.

4.now comes ophthal, coolest branch,no messiness, can have a regular job,no emergencies,u earn around 40,000 to 50,000 more if u do fellowships more,u even get time for family.think abt it whatever happens,it happens for the best, gud luck, hope u will thank me for this in future.

i want cool life but
thinking of dch bcoz in ophth won't get feel of treating pts it will be very narrow where as peads we can rx many though it also becomes narrow after super specialisation i don't want to do

i don't know what happens,

whether 1st counselling cancelled/2nd
