Quick Scroll enquiry-job possibility with spouse who has done medical sch 04.11.08 (4 months ago) #1

Helo. I would be very grateful if someone could offer some opinion on my situation...

I am a IMG from India and have already passed both parts of PLAB in 2006 and done clinical attachments etc

My wife is a non british medical graduate from UK and is allowed to work in Foundation Years 1 and 2. She can opt for the HSMP visa after her current visa status expires after she finishes Foundation Year 2.

What I was wondering is whether this makes it easier or possible for me to be able to secure non training posts in the NHS on this basis?

Would grately appreciate any views and insight.

hi doc

from what you have asked its very obvious that you are not a uk graduate so regardless of your visa status or ur wifes doing any fp programme u ll always b a non uk graduate so it wont make any difference of u securing a training post
ur luck should b favouring u a lot to get a training post otherwise training post is impossible
sorry for being harsh but its fact

hi titan, thanks for your response. Although I didnt exactly understand...are you saying that there are relatively favourable chances of me getting a NON training post?

I do understand already that there is no real hope of getting training posts. However, what I wish to understand is whether non training posts are easier to come by for me.

Many thanks

you can get a non training post at sho level what is called as a trust grade post
its not approved for any training as it is trust generated to fill the vacant post in the trust only
you stand in the same queue as we all stand to get the trust grade post and chances of getting them are not bad as now new docs are not coming from asian countries
i am not sure of your visa status but if you have hsmp at the moment than things will b easy for you but if you have a work permit or any other visa things will b bit twisted for you
just your visa status not yours wife will make a differnece
so just apply to jobs and pray to allah to give you a good chance to get a job
you will get one day inshallah
every one is getting sooner or later
just apply to every job and wait

good luck

thanks very much for your input guardian. Appreciate it greatly. I have not been following the NHS job situation ever since I left UK in 2006. Going to be giving USMLE 1 exam next month. But going to try to get a trust grade job in the nhs for the sake of a overseas recommendation letter for overseas experience.

Is it possible to be dependent on spouse's visa (if it allows) and then not require a visa or work permit for working there?

What is your current status? Are you in UK now?
