can anybody tell me whether i need to do my d.p.m in india at the least before applying for a psych residency giving my steps during my diploma OR whether plain posts will suffice?
How much clinical experience is required for a psych residency??

i believe it isnt mandatory to have any clinical experience before applying , and if you have it or u r going thru ur DPM ,certainly makes it a plus point ....so....

thanks for ur reply siyaa! the problem is, i am getting a diploma seat thru AIPGME. But i have to study for my steps at the same time, so i don't know whether to compromise on my studies focusing on clinical experience or simply waiting to see if good scores are enough. what do you think i should go for?

Scores cant be compromised at all.U can save both ur diploma and steps if wish both by preparing side by side , at the most it may take an extra year .Opting one over the other is altogether ur subjective choice , taking both together is very hard.
