Quick Scroll can u play with patients life just because he is poor, illit 04.30.08 (4 months ago) #1

well the posting was medicine.....
one of my patients was suffering from TB meningitis
so the chief asked for a csf analysis.........
so we got everything ready for patient ......... lumbar puncture needle, tubes, surgical gloves to maintain sterility........
the patient was ready so were we..........
my pg dr jhanavi started wearing the gloves without washing hands. after wearing one glove she even rubbed that gloved hand with her other bare hand.. WHAT HAPPENED TO STERILITY??????????? ADMITTED THE PATIENT IS POOR, ILLITERATE PATIENT BUT SOME STERILITY PROTOCOL HAS TO BE MAINTAINED......
MY BIG FAT MOUTH .......... I ASKED HER POLITELY TO CHANGE THE GLOVE......
AND HER ANSWER WAS DONT TRY TO TEACH ME? I M A MEDICINE PG NOT A SURGERY PG. THIS HYGIENE STUFF IS FOR THEM not for me.... I WILL DO WHATEVER I LIKE......
I BEING AN OBEDIENT INTERN DIDNT DARE TO OPEN MY MOUTH AGAIN......
BUT THAT WAS NOT THE END OF STORY..........
MY PG WAS PISSED.... I HAD DARED TO GIVE SOME LECTURE ON STERILE PROCEDUE TO HER.........
NEXT DAY SHE COMPLAINED TO MY UNIT CHIEF, REGISTRAR, THE ASSISTANTS, THAT I DONT KNOW HOW TO TALK...
COOKED UP STORIES THAT I DONT TAKE PROPER CARE OF PATIENTS...
AND ASKED THEM TO GIVE ME AN EXTENSION ...............
RE ALL BECAUSE I ASKED HER POLITELY TO CHANGE GLOVES FOPR PATIENT'S SAKE......
LESSON LEARNT ...... DONT TRY TO CORRECT UR SENIOR BECAUSE HE/SHE IS ALWAYS CORRECT..........
BUT CAN U PLAY WITH A PATIENTS LIFE JUST BECAUSE HE IS POOR, ILLITERATE.....
I M LOOKING FOR ANSWERS.........
