hello , my senior is having a diploma in Anaesthesia and is doing part time job in icu and getting 30,000 in a very rural set up ( 8 hours a day) . With Anaesthesia in any town you will get such type of jobs . no scarcity o f jobs for anaesthetist and you need not do any free lancer practice in Anaesthesia . it is only optional.
regarding radiology jobs may not be free available and not in all places where you would like to work. Best option ( after dgo and dch) is allways Anaesthesia but always you should love the branch then you likely to dominate even md gen, in clinical practice in icu.. Best of luck

I think you should take MD Anaesthesia , masters degree better than diploma, as an anaesthetist your life will not be as cool as DMRD but think of the satisfaction you get when you work in ICU.

dear susnks,

congratulations for taking md Anaesthesia .

since u r a girl,my advice for u is to opt for dmrd.

y dmrd means, surely u will get plenty of jobs with dmrd

in hyderabad itself the pay starts for dmrd from 60,000 to 1,00,000 as u start
gaining experience.

and dont forget u r a girl with family responsibilities,so dmrd is anyday a less tesion job compared to Anaesthesia , i mean no night duties.

regarding md Anaesthesia ,exellent branch, infact the only branch with 100 percent job placements, coz very few anaesthetists come out every year.

the salary for md Anaesthesia in any private sector is around 60,000 onwards in corporate hospitals plus comission on every surgery they do.
pay scales will increase sharply as u get command over the ICU set up.

infact md Anaesthesia is also very gud option and it entirely depends on u which ur interests are.

the plus points for both branches r that u hv plenty of scope in cities too.

ok let me explain it to u,

if u r willing to practise both r one the best branches to do so..

obgy a surgical branch and pediatrics a medical branch...so think abt personal interest first.

OBGY private practise means lots and lots of money icon_wink.gif same with pediatrics but never as much as OBGY as far as i hv seen around rare exceptions do occur.

obgy has it own disadvantages that it has emergengies, dont have personal life much but have loads money, can buy most of gud things of life..
then u have risk of HIV,hepatites-b,which u have to be careful n cautious about..moreover for private practise u need lots of nurses, staff,OT maintenance.

pediatrics needs a table, chair,ur steth and ur patience to deal with children, thats all...better if not too much compared to OBGY.

if u give me an option i wud go for MD pediatrics even if the money is less.

it is again a personal decision,ur priorities in life n interest basically.

i've already answered let me copy paste for u icon_biggrin.gif what ur professors said was absolutely true.

this time when i attended all india counselling people were flocking to take ophtal and Anaesthesia seats, since i was a newcomer i was asking opinions too...i did go to many people for their opinion, what they told me was amazing.

i was a person who was thinking of no other branch other than general medicine or pediatrics, but then realization dawned.

i consulted mr.sureshnaidu,ms oph, this is what he said"u knw i had to tk oph in those days, initially i too wanted only general med like u but as i came out and startd practise i feel so fulfilled''

he told me that he did a fellowship in myopia correction and is now a concultant to various hospitals,he gets paid 50,000 odd for every myopic correction he does, not only that he told me how coolest of the cool branch ophthal was no emergencies, night shifts, infact a neat and clean branch...sure shot jobs and if u do fellowships then dhamaka,u get paid handsomely,he told me that fellowships are avaliable for cataract, retinal surgery, anterior chamber, glaucoma etc.

when i met dr.ramakrishna,md Anaesthesia ,he told me that Anaesthesia is now selling like hot cakes too,he told me that critical care is associated with Anaesthesia ,ICU,NICU,PICU is added to Anaesthesia curriculum.

and then now with Anaesthesia u can specialize in cardiac, neuro, pediatric Anaesthesia ,pain management,he said for every case of cardiac Anaesthesia one gets 10,000 paid, now isnt that tempting too....

regarding u drpkeerti my advice is if ur husband is a surgeon or orthopedician, close ur eyes and take Anaesthesia ,also tk Anaesthesia if u want to earn megabucks and feel u can be in gud contact with doctors around.

now if u want coolest of the cool life take ophtal, infact i feel jealous of my girlfriends who r pg's in ophtahl, neat and clean life, free after 3pm,and moreover regular op for ophtahl is fantastic..refractive errors, cataract, conjunctivites, keratites cases u get galore anyday.

now think abt ur options.
