Candidates can enter part 3 of the examination on successful completion of
Parts 1 & 2.
In view of the surgical focus of Part 3 examination candidates are strongly
recommended to have at least 18 months’ training in different surgical
specialties before entering the Part 3 examination.
[Note: BST is defined as surgical training undertaken after a primary medical
degree.]
That means U r recommended to have BST and basic surgical skill courses, but not mandatory to have both of them
this arrangement is done for the benefit of candidates only, so that they will be well prepared b4 the exams. As u r an ENT specialist, if i remember correctly, then you dont have basic surgical training that means u BASICALLY should not start with MRCS any part. what will be the benefit for u applying a core surgical exam when u r trained in ENT ?
Basic surgical training for an INDIAN candidate will be like MS general surgery,in which he or she spend 3 yrs in different surgical specialities and general surgery. Basic surgical courses are meant to help candidates to crack the part 3 exam.the no. of courses in iNDIA has reduced since the scenario for asian candidates have changed, also the centers for exams have also been reduced.
