U shud go for orthopaedics ,if u dont hv any personal prefrnces.i hv wrkd in AIIMS for 1 mth then i got rank in all india.i hv resigned frm AIIMS and opted medicine.at my rank orthopaedics and pedia were not there.
first orthopaedics is much better than opthal.and second AIIMS is nothng like it seems.its just like any govt hosptl.it depends on u hw much u can learn.Go for orthopaedics man dont go by name of AIIMS u will feel much satisfied after 3yrs.rest is up to you.

orthopaedics ...orthopaedics and orthopaedics ....its an end subject... u can be M.B.B.S..M.S..D.N.B..M.R.C.S..F.R.C.S...with orthoplasty.. trauma care and other experiences.. all in a matter of 5 to 6 years...a super consultant and difference maker.thats my opinion regarding orthopaedics

but AIIMS is AIIMS ..in terms of name its great..but no matter where we are...skills are always important...

but u also.. have to think what will keep u satisfied...

hi meet...do go for orthopaedics ...bcoz i heard that those who had done mbbs ms ophthal from AIIMS are getting only 30000rs....the name of college matters...but in the long run after 5-6yrs no patient will come to u just bcoz u did from AIIMS ...the quality of work matters at that time...u can do a senior residency from AIIMS even after finishing ur orthopaedics ...

i too wanted to study in AIIMS ...i preferred a non clinical sub ...but after getting md patho thru alll india i am very happy now...bcoz it might be difficult for me to get md path in AIIMS ...

not only that opthal is a sub which is very difficult to establish...it's fast advancing, new laser machines are coming and they cost in crores and it will be difficult to get experience in the initial years--bcoz machines are very costly and u are going to do surgery for eye....so famous people may not let u do the surgeries initially....noone wants to lose the practise and name they have earned by struggling for a long time...one patient losing the sight bcoz of ur inexperience, the senior may fire u immediately...
but if ur a die hard fan of oph u can take AIIMS ...my friend too wanted to study in AIIMS ....but at last she decided to take Paediatrics in pgi and not going for AIIMS ophthal...she was one who never wanted to take clinical sub...she preferred radiodiag ...

good luck to u for which ever subj u take....i too of the opinion that u take orthopaedics ...will be hectic in the 1st year...but can live a king's life in final year....
