Hi everybody,

After my PLAB 2 I struggled alot for the guidence as I am the only doctor in my family also the only one to start career in UK. Here I am sharing my experience for the people sailing in the same boat. Add yours as well if u think we can sail together.
the day result was declared--passed--applied for GMC registration online. filled the employment column with all dates including period of unemployment without any gap--reasons like preparation to move to uk, set of private practice etc .
applied for state good standing cert from country said would take a month
GMC promptly replied asking for marriage name change reason--replied through mail --they were satisfied with reply asked to submit good standing and marriage cert but nothing with me replied back to wait for a month--they were glad for all continuous update through mail still waiting for cert

what next to do
tried to go apply for job but people asking for uk experience, immunisation and professional MDU membership, CRB
got CRB done for £ 20 enhanced one
asked my GP for immunisation but he said he cant do ultimately came to know that only possible if I get job or if agency gives offer to do on payment
Asked for online form of MDU would submit if get a job offer
Next was UK experience people advised to do clinical attachment but its easier to be advised than done. really struggled alot got list of consultants from Dr fosters website called their secretaries managed to get their email ids/postal address, submitted CV but no reply. ( later on realised that there is no need to call secretaries for the contact details as the email ids usually start with first name of specialist dot surname at unor hospitals short dot nhs dot uk) Checked on internet found paid clinical att but quite expensive check these website

Applied to all of them waiting for response. what next till then Rxpg candidate said he did ALERT and ALS to get job so checked on resus website wrote 10-15 mails in scotland but they are least helpful said not for external candidates--started then writing to almost everybody in England luckily got place for both the courses at COVENTRY
I passed both courses. At coventry I came to know about cli att (free) --got 2 attachments there. As per my experience, coventry is a very good place for freshers to do ALS course instructors are very cooperative. write to ann dot martin2 at uhcw dot nhs dot uk for accomodation if u get the place write to jan dot 1dot handley at uhcw dot nhs dotuk
its very cheap £15 per night If u dont have uk exp then try to do ALERT before ALS it helps to pass ALS as ther is MCQ and practical test at the end of course in ALERT no exam

MDU membership covers u on med negligence or any professional problems also they give u 24 hr guidence on legal things in clinical practice if u get stuck its better to know about it and get urself covered once u start working some people ask for that in interview
for immunisation mostly they ask for hepatitis, BCG, HIV status if u go for clinical attachment they get it done for u through their occupational dept free of cost alongwith all blood tests and chest xray as well just tell them u want to do it
