Tried buying Fundamental Clinical Situations on amazon but it seems to be sold out? Can anyone recommend a book that won't take 6 weeks to receive?

Hi,
I had the same problem with the canadian amazon... I think if you log in through the .com version you get billed for shipping outside of US, but it might be faster.
I just went to the bookstore at the hospital here at University of Winnipeg and they had all the OSCE
books you would want, including this one. So if you are in Toronto, try their bookstore.

Regarding which books to use for CE1, here is a list at books I looked at. All available through amazon or at probably all medical/university bookstores. At least the one in Winnipeg had them all...
1. recommended in this forum: Fundamental Clinical Situations: A Practical OSCE
Study Guide. by Pieter J. Jugovic, around 30 CAD. Relatively short, not too pricy.
2. Other option: OSCE
and Clinical Skills Handbook. by Katrina F. Hurley, around 65 CAD. It seemed to cover a lot, seemed not to structured at first glance.
3. I ended up buying: Clinical Skills for OSCEs. by Neel Burton, around 100 CAD. Lots of scenarios as in the exams (it is written for the UK though, so there are some differences). I liked the structured approach to each case with focus on history and examination, less on the medicine itself.
4. Additional: There is a book published through U of T, small black, spiral bound. It is called somewhat like 'Handbook of Physical Examination' I have to find it again. For those of us who are nervous about how to do the examination and take history, this is how the Canadians are supposed to do it. Very complete! I think it was around 40 CAD. You might have to go to the UofT bookstore to find it...
Hope this helps!

Through Barnes and Nobles: I got Fundamental Clinical Situations.
Through U of T: ESSENTIALS OF CLINICAL EXAMINATION
Through chapters.ca: OSCE
and LMCC-II: Review Notes
This last book I only bought to accompany the fundamental clinical situations, but they e-mailed me saying the first book wasn't in stock and i didn't bother canceling the order altogether, for fear of ending up with nothing.
Amazon will take too long, I have my exam in august so can't wait forever.
Thanks for your prompt reply everyone!

Yeah, this is the 'Essentials of Clinical Examination' Handbook of U of T. If you know and can apply what is in this book, the CE1 should not be a problem at all.

How about "Bates' Guide to Physical Examination and History Taking"? Would it be useful for clinical case preps in terms of requested protocols?
