CAn anyone tell me which is the MC organism to cause meningitis in 2months to 3 yrs child.
H infuenza or pneumococcus.
I am confused cause every book has diff ans.

i cant go for any one answer but i would like to tell u something. as mukhtar has said already that becoz of introduction of vaccine the incidence of H.influenzae infection has come down. infact now the most common cause for eppiglotitis is streptococcus and not H.infl....
but again these stats r in rel to western world.
i feel like leaving it unanswered.

This type of questions should be left unanswered in exams..

Agree that H. influenzae has charcteristic of infecting b/w 3 months to 3 years, but whether it is the most common among all organisms in this group is always controversial..
