RxPG - Eligibility criteria for admission to PG courses in CMC Vellore

a) Degree of Doctor of Medicine (D.M.) Higher Specialities:

A Candidate can be considered for admission to the above course if he/she has passed M.D. General Medicine or M.D. Paediatric Medicine of the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, or any other University recognised by it and the Medical Council of India.

M.D. Pathology candidates are also eligible to apply for D.M. Clinical Haematology.

For Dip NB Endocrinology (Higher Speciality) - candidates with MD Gen Med / Paed or OG are eligible to apply.

b) Degree of Master of Chirurgy (M.Ch.) Higher Specialities:

A candidate can be considered for admission to the above courses if he/she has passed the M.S. in General Surgery of the Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, or any other University, recognised by it and the Medical Council of India. (Neurosurgery-see below)

For the 3 year MCh in Neurosurgery an M.S. Degree or equivalent in Gen. Surgery, E.N.T. or Orthopaedics is acceptable.

Candidates applying for the 5 year MCh in Neurosurgery please refer to the next section on eligibility to MD/MS etc.

Candidates with MNAMS/MAMS/DIP.N.B. qualification conducted by the National Board of Examinations have to possess an additional year of research experience after obtaining their degree to be eligible to apply for Higher Speciality courses.

c) MD/MS/ 5 year M.Ch Neurosurgery course/Diplomas/Dip NB (Family Med):

Candidates having qualified for the M.B.B.S Degree of Madras University or any other University recognised as equivalent there to by the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University and the Indian Medical Council and obtained full registration and having completed their compulsory rotating residential internship before the starting date of the courses, are eligible to apply for the postgraduate diploma and degree courses.

Candidates having qualified for a postgraduate diploma may also apply for the postgraduate degree (MS/MD) course in the same subject. Post Diploma candidates with a diploma in the same subject will undergo 2 years training for the degree.
