I did plab2 at September and I failed it. Here is my exam experience. I hope it will be useful for someone.

1. Counsel with a man about 40 years old he is going to have hernia operation and he wants to know about pain relief

there was a man who looked a bit depressed and when I asked him how could I help him he said doctor I have hernia operation a few days later and am very apprehensive about that, he said he had another operation for hernia at the other site before and he suffered from pain a lot then I started to speak about the methods of pain relief we have (paracetamol, NSAIDs, morphine and their side effects...),
when I came out of the station I thought I made a fool of myself why I did not respond properly to patent’s requests why I did not ask him about his previous operation and painkillers he received ? GRADE= E

2. Rest station

3. Suturing it went well but I forgot to put the needle in the bin!
GRADE= D

4. CPR of a cyanosed adult in the hospital I did it properly I just instead of saying asking for crash team, said asking for ambulance! (I was in the hospital) and i did not say that i will do CPR for 1 minute before calling crash team (I still do not know if we should do this in a cyanosed adult or not?)
GRADE= D

5. A 15 years old girl is brought by her parents because of weight loss in the last 6 months, take history
There was a slim girl who looked depressed without eye contact I took history; probably the diagnosis was anorexia nervosa
GRADE= C

6. Serious infection: a worried mother about the condition of his son (I think about 5 years old) who had septicaemia (I do not remember if it was meningococcal or not?)
The mother was upset asking you questions about the condition of her son and what she has to do about her other son and the children who had played with the patient.
I was happy with this station! GRADE= D

7. A 36 weeks pregnant lady has come with hypertension + pr urea counsel
I counselled her explained that she needs to be admitted at the hospital and... She said she wants normal delivery and i explained maybe we need to do caesarean section for her and...
GRADE=C

8. Perform ear examination in an old man who is complaining of deafness
I did rinne and weber and otoscopy
GRADE= B

9. Blood sampling from an anaemic patient
Just SYRINGE was available
There was sterile cotton on the upper arm of manikin which made you to think that probably there us a good vein?! but there was another bid vein in front of you full of blood which I took blood from that and when I was doing that examiner took that sterile gas and throw it away( I think he was trying to mislead to take blood from there)
I did it well but I just forgot to do something at the end which i still do not know what is that (probably writing details of patient on the blood bottle?)
GRADE=C

10. Prostate examination in a 60 years old man
When I was wearing the gloves the examiner who was abnormally friendly!!!!!!!! said do you need to ear a pair of gloves or just one enough and I do not know why suddenly said know one is enough ?! Thinking he is helping me (but he was misleading me)
And I did everything properly
GRADE= D

11. Telephone speaking with a mother about her kid who had diarrhoea
It went well
GRADE=B

12. Hip examination in young man who has osteoarthritis
I did everything patient had psoriatic lesions on the SKIN of lower limb which should be mentioned I just forgot to do leg length measurement
GRADE=D

13. Take history of a young man with loss of consciousness
I was not bad I asked everything I could remember but when examiner asked what your diagnosis is. I said I do not know. I have to do some tests to confirm diagnosis (it looked like arrhythmia?)
GRADE=C

14. Blood pressure
I did it very well examiner looked very happy
GRADE=C!!

15. A child with previous history of asthma has had an attack of severe asthma counsel with father
Father was very meticulous asking you plenty of questions at the end he said the child had gone to horseriding yesterday which was probably the reason of attack
GRADE= PILOT

16. DIABETIC KETO-ACIDOSIS

There was just an examiner
He said a patient is coming to the hospital in coma with a history of diabetes what is the first thing you do? I said checking the BLOOD GLUCOSE
He said no! what is the first thing after couple of seconds I remembered it is obvious VITAL SIGN he said ok which vital sign is most important I said BP. he said no then he showed me a paper writing that T= 38
then he asked what is the reason of high temperature in this patient I said infection then he showed me an chest X Ray with consolidation at the lower part of lung I said patient has pneumonia he said ok and the asked me about the management of diabetic ketoacidosis which I explained
GRADE= C

GOOD LUCK FOR EVERYBODY
