This free online textbook was written by T D V Swinscow, revised by M J Campbell, University of Southampton. Statistics at Square One is one of the most widely used statistical textbooks in the UK, and the structure and format of the original book has been retained in this online version.

Incorporating new statistical trends which have occured since the original edition was published, this online version includes chapters on data display and summary, mean and standard deviation, populations and samples, statements of probability and confidence intervals, differences between means, differences between percentages and paired alternatives, t tests, chi-squared tests, exact probability test, rank score tests, correlation and regression, survival analysis, and study design and choosing a statistical test. This online version was revised in 1995 and is published on the Web by the BMJ Publishing Group.
