RxPG - How to Tackle the All India MD/MS PG Entrance (AIPGE) Paper

hi! despite of having done the home work well, quite a few people are not able to crack the paper well,so,i have put up certain points which i think may be helpful in tackling the AIPGE paper

There is one aspect of the pre pg examination i would like to touch upon;

"how to attempt the paper"

i know what i am going to say is probably followed by 99% people but i still think that this point shud be stressed.....

1.attempt the paper in "waves"

remember,the all india paper is big and there is always a shortage of time,so do the paper in repeated rounds(which i call "waves")

1st round
do only those questions which can be done by just looking at them(mark my words) these r the questions which r usually previous year verbatim repeats

2nd round
this round should contain questions which need only a bit of thinking.....these r mostly those questions which r from the topics you would have covered recently but instead of being "repeat questions" they are same things in a diff.way

note:-these questions can be done in the first round too,if u feel that there r very less verbatim repeats

3rd round
here come the questions in which u have already ruled out 2 choices confidently

4th round
questions which look difficult or those questions which r from new topics

now how to mark the questions which u leave(those to be done later);

to mark the currently left questions,instead of using some kind of signs eg: # or * or anything else,i would suggest u to use numbers.
like if "X" question is the first question u leave then mark it as "1"

in this way when u reach the end of the paper,u'll know the exact amount of questions which r left(gives u an idea how much more u need to do)
this saves time as you don't have to count the questions later

final strategy

the all india paper is of 3+1/2 hours,divide the time as:

50 questions in each 1/2 hour slot(it is not tough)......so eventually u get extra 1/2 hour for the 4th round which includes those questions in which u actually need to think
but remember,we have given 1/2 hour to 50 questions earlier,but now the questions left r those which require thinking,so,the amount of questions left for the last 1/2 hour should not be more than 30(excluding those questions which u have decided not to do)

another point

this is a bit disputed and i must say,a risk:-

i personally feel that those questions which look quite tough r sometimes the easiest ones to solve(you just have to read them carefully,the question itself has the clues).....so try them once or twice

but then again as i said,this is a bit disputed(you may actually loose some time) so think about it.

make decisions
there r certain questions about which u shud know that u will not do them.....mark these questions with a sign......AND THEN DON'T EVEN READ THEM IN THE NEXT ROUND
