Following is the list of books I had read while preparing foe AIPG. I have also mentioned areas where I think I should have done bit more.Hope it helps you.
ANATOMY ------ B.D.C. and BAP
I had read it..it was tough to memorise. We had tried to memorise the figures by drawing them in a separate note book and going through them time and again.BAP had helped me in revising in the wee hours(though there are many wrong info in it,which we had corrected when we read B.D.C.)
BIOCHEMISTRY ------- HARPER
Biochemistry had been my favourite subject in 1st year and I had read it by heart then.So I diceded to read it for PG too.I think Lippincot is also sufficient and easiar to read and keep in memory than Harper.
PHYSIOLOGY -------- GANONG
Its a must and best for PG exams
PATHOLOGY --------ROBBINS(Big)
I had read middle Robbins, but it would be better to read the big one.
PHARMACOLOGY ------ K.D.T.
Its enough. The pharma question which are not found in it can be retrieved from Harrison and CMDT.
MICROBIOLOGY ------- PANIKAR/K.D.C.
I had read infectious disease from Harrison well so I needed Panikar and K.D.C. just for introduction and characteristics of bacteria/virus/fungus and parasites respectively. Immunology from Harrison is a must.
F.S.M. -------- REDDY(Synopsis)
Its enough.Do make photographs of ossification centres to memorise them and a chart of IPCs.
COMMUNITY MEDICINE -------- PARK
BIOSTATISTICS --------- RXPG BIOSTAT.
EYE ------ NEEMA
I had read Neema coz it was easy for me.I had read this very book in UG. But I think Khurana is better framed, specially the last pages are very handy for revision.
ENT -------- DHINGRA
MEDICINE ----- Harrison's
Marked the topics retrogradely from mcq books and read only them.I would say that if some body reads hematology from CMDT then it would be better. Theories of all subjects I read twice, but read Harrison only once in whole september.
SURGERY ----- B&L
Frankly speaking there is no complete book where you can find all questions of surgery,I had read B&L and memorised mcqs. But that was not enough I think.
G&O ------- SHAW AND D.C.D.
Dont worry for question which come from Novak and Williams, try your luck on them, else leave them because we can not read those books for PG preperation.
PAEDIATRICS ----- GHAI
Ghai is adequate..but if some body reads CVS from Nelson then it will give good returns at exam.
ORTHOPEDICS ------ MAHESHWARI
Maheshwari along with mudit khanna/gupta trpathi's explanation was all I could read. See if you can read Apley.
SKIN ---- HARRISON AND BEHAL
Both are indespensable!
ANAESTHESIA ---- LEE
I think Yadav will also suffice.
RADIOLOGY/RADIOTHERAPY ----- SUMER K.SETHI
AND SARP
Again you have to read both of them as neither one is complete in itself.Do check out the wrong infos in SARP.
PSYCHIATRY ------ AHUJA
Aur kya! :-)
