Only one in six doctors believes it is appropriate to wear jeans when seeing patients, and three quarters think what they wear makes a difference to how a patient views their competence.
Responding to our regular Doctors Decide survey of opinion across the profession, one doctor comments: 'I feel there is a big age divide. Younger patients and doctors are usually happy to wear informal dress, though I think doctors ought not to be scruffy.'
