Doctors wishing to enter the UK to practice medicine should seek advice on immigration issues from The Home Office.

The National Advice Centre for Postgraduate Medical Education is an information and advice centre for overseas-qualified doctors who wish to undertake medical training in the UK. We suggest that you see the NACPME website for a comprehensive overview of medical training in the UK.

You are legally required to be registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) to take up any NHS appointment with clinical duties including training posts. It is your responsibility to identify the proper type and route of GMC registration. You should note that GMC registration does not guarantee employment in the UK.
