MCQs for MRCOG: A Self-assessment Guide: Pt. 1
Added on 24-07-2006

This book includes MCQs in the basic sciences that underpin the study of obstetrics and gynaecology, as is examined in Part 1 of the membership examination. Following the syllabus recommended by the RCOG, the questions are arranged in papers of 60 questions, each question having 5 stems with True/False answer options. Full answers with explanatory text will be provided. Where appropriate the answers will be supplemented by key message boxes and footnotes to direct further study - in this way the book can be used as a study guide as well as a tool for revision and self-assessment. A unique feature of the book will be the accompanying CD-ROM. Using this the candidate will be able to select at random questions to make up a practice paper which they can sit under 'examination conditions'. When the candidate has completed the mock examination the program will calculate their scores and indicate whether this would represent a 'good pass / pass / borderline pass or fail'. As with the text, full explanations of the answers will be provided. --saji, RxPG

Past Papers: MRCOG Multiple Choice Questions 1997-2001: Pt. 1
Added on 24-07-2006

The Part One MRCOG examination is a test of basic science knowledge as applicable to obstetrics and gynaecology. While the format of the examination (two papers each of 300 multiple true/false questions) has remained unaltered over the past two decades, the syllabus and mix of questions has undergone considerable updating. The trainees of today will experience a massive influx of scientific knowledge in their practice over a lifetime, and the examination aims to equip trainees as best possible to understand, interpret and apply new knowledge properly. This publication is a landmark in the history of the Part One MRCOG. For the first time, candidates are able to assess their chances of passing the examination. The members of the Examination Committee hope that this information will encourage candidates to sit the examination when they are ready, while discouraging those who are too early in their cycle of learning. This publication is a landmark in the history of the Part One MRCOG. For the first time, candidates are able to study real questions and to self-assess their chances of passing the examination. --saji, RxPG
