… this is a useful book for practising the discipline of keeping to time and exam technique which has changed since the removal of negative marking. It will also help the candidate recognise if they have covered the breadth of the syllabus. Were I sitting the exam now, rather than 10 years ago, I would probably be using this book!
The MRCP exams of the UK Colleges of Physicians are a pre-requisite qualification for medical practitioners training to become specialist registrars and consultants. The “Get through … “ series has been designed and written under the guidance of Dr Eric Beck, past Chairman of the MRCP Part 2 examining board. This new series is an essential revision tool for all MRCP candidates studying for the new syllabus exams.
Get through MRCP - Part 1 aims to test the widest breadth of the candidate’s knowledge with 1000 multiple choice and “Best Of Five” questions and explanatory answers in preparation for the MRCP Part 1 examination papers one and two. Advice is given to candidates covering question comprehension, answer strategies and avoiding common pitfalls, such as the merits of guessing an answer. A section explains the structure of the Part 1 and Part 2 examinations and papers.
Coming soon in the same series, Get through MRCP - Part 2 and Get through MRCP - Part 2 PACES.
The author, Una Coales MD FRCSEd, trained in medicine in the USA and moved to the UK to practise. She has written several popular exam texts including PLAB and DRCOG having passed each exam herself.

Review Books, Courses, Websites, Colleges or anything that is Medical! This section invites reviews for the various books available in the market for the Indian PG Entrances like AIPGE, AIIMS, State PG etc; Foreign Exams like PLAB, USMLE, GRE etc; Medical Subjects like Surgery, Medicine etc; Allied Medical Subjects; CDs and online educational material; Any other interesting book e.g. Novels, Non Fiction. Anyone can review any book available in the market until and unless it is done honestly and is intended to help other people who are preparing for the PG Entrances. RxPG hopes that this will make the choice of the students a bit easy as the market is overloaded from books claiming to be good for preparations. Reviews from authors and publishers about their forthcoming or existing books are also invited.
