At first glance, this integrated clinical and anatomical pathology textbook appears to be overwhelmingly text-based, interrupted only by the inclusion of sophisticated illustrations and green "interest-info" boxes. Designed as a supplement to lectures, to provide the student with a greater insight into the mechanics of the study of pathology, Basic Pathology successfully considers each subject in excellent essay-level detail. The laboratory diagnosis of certain disorders has also been incorporated, although the book does not focus on clinical pathology as such. Once you start reading, you realise that the language is actually relatively simple, and the topics are considered in a logical order. The text could perhaps be made a little more appealing by simply introducing bigger breaks between paragraphs, while a brief chapter summary would also be useful. In summary, Basic Pathology is a must-have accompaniment to any Pathology course, if for the beautiful illustrations alone! (reader)
