About me
hey guys n gals............or should i say hello docs! i am sajith. from kerala but now am working in saudi arabia in the MOH. not a job i like much. and as my nick suggests i have been looking for better opportunities for a while now. i graduated in 2002, and have been working since. from the very beginig i had decided that slogging over for AIPGME N CET kerala is not something i;d lke to do.........so gave gre n got admitted for MS in COMMUNITY HEALTH but unfortunately my visa was rejected. now waiting for a second chace hopefully in june....... in the meanwhile RXPG showed me other ways...........AMC for example. lets c where my travails take me.:D but for now i live life as it comes.

About my nick
hey drstanilo, nice thread. i haven't had time to go through all the pages but the names i have checked out sure seem interesting. abt me......... i am a malayalee.....keralite. and anweshi in my language means someone who is in the search. i am not sure yet what it is that i am searching, but all that i have found till now hasn't satisfied me. my search goes on...... in every realm of life. because i haven't been able to decide if life has some greater purpose in the realm of the unknown, all my searches are for now confined to life in this world. don't i sound pretty confused? well thats what i am:) as for the signature, its a song i liked very much. the meaning is i have tried breaking the mirror into a hundred peices, but all i found was that even in those 100 i am alone, just as i was in one.:)

About my college
calicut medical college:D as some b4 me put it simply.....the best. i love it. as for the facts, situated in calicut, norht kerala. government med college, established in 1957.....its the silver jublee this year. intake of 200 UGs annually. 15% thru all india quota, n the resst frm keral PMT. also gets students frm lakshadweeep, maldives n occassionally malaysia. used to have africans n students frm middle east in the past.but not recently. my college serves the northermost 5 districts of kerala......the part called malabar. its the underdeveloped area n we get lots of cases. the med college has 3 hospitals..New medical college hospital(not so new, but newer than the college), the Institute of Maternal n Child Health( the famous guinnes book entry for number of deliveries a year) n the Institute if Chest Diseases. then there is the state mental hospital which is attatched to it n the Pain n Palliative Care Clinic. the a pioneering centre of excellence in this field. all these together have more than 2000 beds but there r always more than 3500 patients admitted. for the sheer number and variety of cases, tis a treasure trove, but thats also the bane. the staff n faculty r overworked, unmotivated for the most part. but still........... maybe coz it gets the cream of kerala every year, this college has its wards doing pgs in almost all colleges worth a name in india. campus life is in my opinion never dull.....we have plenty of extra curricular activiteis....one complaint i have heard frm my friends doing pg somehwere else is the lack of progams in those collleges. if not anything else there is always the active politics that keeps u occupied.......n occassionly the hostels n colleg closed. hostels..........wen i used to be there... it was 4 Mens. 3 Womens n one PG aprt from a mixed house surgeons quarters. but now its 3 mens. 4 ladies n 2 PG ( mmore gals join the college now).nothing much to say abt them...the mess is ok. the rooms r ok for most part. 2 things we harp abt are....... the system of numbering the batches......we dont call ourselves by the year. of joining......Iam from the 40th batch, thats 1996 batch for the 'layman' and the Clcok Tower. it is the guiding lamp, my spire of inspiration, the solace for lonely hearts n loving hearts alike. we also have a garden where love blooms. there r a lot of love affairs going on..i think thats normal but we like to think iots somehting special to us. the faculty is overall efficient but uninpsiring n undedicated........there r a lot of good clinicians n teachers, but it surely has lost the name it had in older times as the centre of excelence. there r almost all the facilities but some r overused due to sheer patient load n some unused due to reasons known only to the authorities. but the one big plus there is the PGs. they r the most briliant guys n very helpul for the UGs .apart from medical college there are the dental, nursing ,pahrmacy, colleges n lots of paramedical courses. there are PG n superspeiality courses in all specialities. admission is as for UG. the Medical College Junction is a world in its own........right from the road side 'supermarkets' where a patient gets evrything he of she needs to spend their time in the hospital to the 'thattukadas' where we used to have late night 'bread-omlette' n 'kattan chaaya'(black tea). the town is little more than 8kms way n in calicut the passtimes r moveis. food n more food, apart from 'bird watching' in SM Street. n theres the beach. i know i have it all jubled up.........but then i cant think straight abt my college. it always brings out a jumble of emotions apart from unlocking hidden memories... calmedstorm......lemme know of ur batch. its always good to meet some1 frm my college.

I wanted to become a doctor as...
interesting discussion....barring the cliches of helping the poor:) How many of us would even think of doing it for free in some unlit unconnected uneducated waterstarved hinterland of this vast country? No offence please........It's just my opinion As for me.......I don't know why I am a doc. I got thru both engg n med entrances.....n since there were only 800 seats for med n over 2000 for engg I thought med was more in demand...plus there r no docs in my family n no1( neither engg, but then they don't have that glamour docs have) was even mentioning abt the engg seat:( This was b4 the IT boom... n my logic was "at least I won't have to hunt for a job. I can make a good 10 000 sitting at home if nothing else works out" But now times have changed...........IT has BOOMED... a GP at home isn't something I feel like doing, an MBBS doesn't seem to have that old GLAMOUR to me, n 10000 bucks seems pittance. So am I happy? Well there is sometihng in this job that makes me happy...maybe the adrianlin rush wen an emergency comes to the casualty, the satisfactioin wen the situation is effectively tackled.....the heart break wen it's not, the elation wen ppl seem to respect u, the sense of superiority wen ppl oder than u ask for ur advice on what seems to u a trivial thing, the company of some intelligent minds (and beautiful nurses)......So I concentrate on these and try to maximise them though the frustrations do come out.

If I was given a second chance...
