Hi everybody, though this might be a bit late for the Match 2008, I hope this
post would help at least those who are planning for Match 2009 or later. Here I
explain the tips and tricks for the Match.
I applied to 150 Internal Medicine programs
It gets more competitive every year especially for the International Medical
Graduates (IMGs). Most of the IMG-friendly programs claim that they received
more than 3000 applications this year. The record gets broken each year. This
might also be due to each applicant applying to more than 100 programs. I

Factors that determine getting a residency slot after USMLE

Well that’s pretty subjective again. At times guys with lower scores have gotten better residency slots than those with higher scores. Still I'll list all the factors that go into determining the probability of getting a residency slot.
1. MLE scores: This is the single most important factor for an IMG at least. The higher the scores the better are the chances. Now there is a confusion over step 1 or 2 scores which are better. General perception is that Step 1 scores are more important. But I'd like to tell you about a study on this factor....

Get done with all your steps by September 1st i.e. Step 1, 2 CK, 2 CS and 3 if you want H1 or as early as you can manage.
